This presentation will include a discussion of self-compassion and mindfulness training as methods to promote self-management and awareness of emotions. Coping techniques and activities that can be implemented with students will be presented, including self-compassionate identity creation, mindfulness-based reflection and body awareness, breathing techniques, and reconstructed, self-compassionate self-talk. Each of these techniques will be presented with the intention of promoting a classroom culture of social and emotional awareness and flourishing.
